Village of Croton-on-Hudson E-Notice
Friday November 30, 2012
The Village of Croton-on-Hudson is postponing its Annual Organization Meeting at which the Trustees elected in November would have been sworn in. The County Board of Elections has informed Village Clerk Paula DiSanto that it has not yet certified the election results due to as yet uncounted ballots. County certification requires that all votes for all races on the ballot~be certified at the same time, not individually.
Therefore, the Village must wait for the official election certification in order to proceed with the swearing in of the Trustees-elect, in this case, Deputy Mayor Ann Gallelli and new Board member, Kevin W. Davis.
This November was the first~fall election for Croton's Village~offices. For state and federal offices,~Board of Elections~must~certify results~by December 15. The County~has not provided~the exact~date by which it will certify the election results.
In March 2011, villagers voted by a large margin to move the Village election from March each year to November. One consequence of holding Village elections in November is that the County assumed control over the Village’s election procedures. In prior years, with elections held in March, the Village certified its own election results for submission to the County,~within a few days of the election.
