2004 Visions in Planning Award Winner
Handicapped Accessible Trail at Croton Landing

The Village purchased Croton Landing with the Open Space Institute in 1995.  In early 2003 the Open Space Institute transferred its title of the Beaverkill portion (the northern section) of Croton Landing to the Village.  The Village has spent significant funds, partially funded with grants from the Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act, the Hudson River Foundation, and Community Development Block Grants, to clean up the property and construct a handicapped accessible trail along the south portion of the property.  The trail links to the Pedestrian Bridge, the new trail constructed as part of the Brook Street Grade Crossing Elimination Project, and a proposed Westchester County Trail that is to run north along the shore to Oscawana Park.
